2023 Junior Rep Head Coach Expression of Interest

Wagga Wagga Basketball Association (WWBA) are calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Head Coaches for our 2023 Junior Representative Program.


The EOI opens Monday 1 August and will close on Sunday 21 August 2022.


The Junior Representative Program has established standards and values that are designed to achieve our vision of developing a successful, caring, and dedicated culture based program that will teach players and coaches beneficial skills for life on and off the basketball court.


As we strive for professionalism and excellence we seek people of high character that are willing to invest in all aspects of Basketball. Successful applicants will be vital in facilitating athletes through their junior basketball pathway, whilst also being able to further their own coaching pathway.


EXPECTATIONS OF ALL INTERESTED COACHES


  • Club Coaching Accreditation or above before the SJL season

  • Current Working With Children Check

  • Attendance at Selection trials in September

  • Adherence to BNSW/Wagga Wagga Basketball Coaches Code of Conduct

  • Coaching representative teams during the Autumn 2023 domestic competition

  • Assisting the WWBA with skills clinics/development programs


SELECTION PROCESS

  • Only Head Coaches will be appointed in the initial round;

  • Interviews may or may not be requested at the discretion of the Board;

  • Final appointment of coaches in the Junior Representative Program remains the sole responsibility of the Board;

  • At all times the Board will appoint Coaches they determine are best suited to the gender and age group at the time;

  • The Board reserves the right to appoint Coaches from the application pool or in the event the Board is of the opinion the pool does not provide a preferred candidate, source other candidates post the application process;

  • In the event first and/or second preferences are not available the Board will discuss with applicants possible options to be involved in the Program that will still meet the interests and development opportunities for the coach and add value to the program;

  • The Board reserves the right to decline applications for coaching roles based on previous behaviour that has been deemed to be unacceptable and not in keeping with the Code of Conduct;

  • The Board reserves the right to make changes at any time, post appointment if they deem a Coach's behaviour to be inconsistent with the Code of Conduct;

  • Decisions on coaching appointments will be made in the best interest of the team, players and Association;

  • In accepting a Coaching Role in the Junior Representative Program you also commit to attending Coach meetings and development opportunities as scheduled.
